Part of the book
The Bible was the only book you saw pictured in Mary’s hands, the only book with authority. The only holy book, at least, for Christians. For this sculpture, I turned a cast of a French Bible inside out. Thus, as spectators, we become part of the content of the book.

Our view
Although our society now thinks it is secular, our outlook is Christian shaped. This image symbolizes the weight our society still gives to the contents of this book.
