Ego Vivo / Self-Portrait 25

2013

bronze, concrete

180 x 180 x 820

The monument Ego Vivo / Self-Portrait 25 was first erected in 2013, during the open-air exhibition Blickachsen 9 in Frankfurt, where it was presented as part of my Skeleton project. Then it was at Festival Lowlands and then in the gardens of Kasteel het Nijenhuis, Museum de Fundatie, Zwolle. Now the work can be seen from the end of April in the exhibition ‘Inner Voice’ in Ciutadella, Menorca, Spain.

Monument in recognition of merit
“Who honors themselves with a monument? Yet life is an amazing miracle, Everyone deserves to erect a monument to themselves during their lifetime.”

Monument to life itself
Through a CT scan I had an exact 3D copy made of my upper arm bone. I had this enlarged and cast in bronze and then placed on a pedestal. An eight-foot high monument to myself in life, for inspiration to every other human being.”
